about

Soar to Never Never Land with Peter Pan, Wendy and the Lost Boys as harpist-composer Leslie McMichael unfurls her spellbinding original score to the long-lost silent film. Leslie has toured and played live with classic silent films throughout the U.S. at theatres, museums, and film festivals.

What movie-loving musician wouldn’t love the chance to write new music for a classic film? I was given an amazing opportunity by Liz Shepherd of Northwest Film Forum when she commissioned me to write a new score for the long-lost silent “Peter Pan.” Using the texture of plucked strings and the wide dynamic range of the harp, my score’s delightful mission is to bring J.M. Barrie’s beloved characters to life on the silver screen. It was a joy to compose music that expresses the beauty, humor, melancholy, and mischief of Peter Pan.
I think this music is enjoyable on its own, but it’s especially magical for me when I pull my harp back in the dark, face the movie screen and play live with the wondrous 1924 silent film about the Boy Who Wouldn’t Grow Up.
